Does the MyLOFT browser plugin capture search keywords from users’ general browsing activity?
The MyLOFT browser extension does not capture search history keywords from users’ general browsing activity. It does not access or store personal browsing history, searches performed on unrelated websites, or any private user data.
Search keywords are recorded only when a user performs a search within the MyLOFT platform itself. The extension’s role is limited to enabling secure proxy-based access to institution-subscribed academic resources.
We also make conscious efforts to ensure transparency in how the extension operates. During installation, users are provided with clear guidance on its functionality, and the supported publisher/resource domains where the extension applies the proxy and enables the AI Buddy Chat Assistant are openly listed in the Help section.
There have been no security breaches related to the MyLOFT browser extension. User privacy and data protection remain core priorities for us.
